So yesterday my buddy was driving his lifted chevy silverado 1500, he said he was driving & right when it shifted into 3rd gear it made a clunk noise like something broke & just would not go anywhere from that point on.

He said every once in a while before it would make a loud grinding noise when he was driving but only really did it when he was driving it easy & also it felt like it was surging as if the motor was cutting out but it wasnt. When he left his brothers yesterday he said that it seemed like it felt like something was dragging as if the E brake was on or something but it was not.

It will roll in neutral but will not move in any gear even when in 4 hi or low when giving it gas.

He just had his transmission rebuilt like a year ago i think & had a shift kit put in it but he is not sure if this is a transmission problem or maybe something in the transfer case????

Has anyone had any similar problems?

Ok so my buddy took his tranny & transfer case out of his truck after he called the shop that repaired his tranny the first time.

Like a year ago his radiator & tranny cooler sprung a leak which mixed the two fluids together. The guy from the tranny shop said that the water/coolant that got into the transmission fluid streamed inside the tranny & caused the glue on the clutches to seperate & that is what caused this whole problem.

If this was the case wouldnt the transmission started to slip instead of instantly failing? My buddy said before the whole thing went to **** it never had a problem when he got on it really hard it was only when he was easy on it.

Now they want to charge him $1000 bucks to fix it again after their $2700 bill the last time.
