Some here have meet my ~10 year old German Shepherd Chloe over the years. I have had her for most of that time (pound puppy). Good god damn old dog. I'll never forget how well her and HB bonded the few times they hung out. ;D

She is getting old and been having ear issues and keeps needing it drained. I guess she breaks a blood vessel in it and shakes her head cuz it bugs her and more or less a big blood blister forms, only it's just a blood pocket and her ear no longer stays up. Had to have that drained for the second time in a few months and next time the vet says surgery?? Unsure what that will help, but he is the doc. She also had some lumps in a few spots checked for cancer and THANK GOD so far she is free and clear and doc said she is good for a prolly a few more good years until she hits the wall. :-[ That wall has really been bugging me lately.

Anyway, I am just happy my dog is still in decent shape for all she has been through over the years and thought I'd post some BS for a few to enjoy. I know Paul has a good one of him and her on my couch years back. Time for a couple more beers.

Nothing like mans best friend.

Have a dog similar to yours. Picked him up when he was a pup at a shelter. Had a few issues with him getting in fights and such, but he's not as old as yours and is part Lab and Rebone. You drop the tailgate on a truck and he's in for the ride though. Wants to go everywhere with me. Got so bad one time he jumped on my wifes hood of her brand new, and I mean brand new 4runner(1200 miles).

Good luck with that ear.

How much does she weigh she looks huge! Shes got a good looking coat on her. Thats good to hear thats shes doing good. I know you worry about your dog , hell they re part of the family! I worry about mine. Here s my helluns Bull (left) and Belle (right)

Pound pups are the way to go, there is nothing like them. I think each day they are just glad that they are with you and not in whatever situation they were in before. Our pound pump Sierra (I call her scoobs sometimes) is my favorite dog ever. I think about here getting older and it makes me very sad.

Thanks all. I think she is in the 80-85 pound range. Could loose a few, but I toss pizza crust at her while I am drinking (like tonight) and what the hell ya know?? dunno

I had a Shep/Rott mix before I knew any of these guys. It was my first dog ever since my sister had allergies. Had her 2 years, house broke, frisbee catchin sumbitch and she got something the vets could not diagnose. Wanted us to take her to the U of Missouri to get a catscan at $1500 and not a chance of her getting better so I put her down. HARDEST thing I have ever done. Still brings a tear to my eye.

Don't know what I will do when Chloe's time comes, I think I will be at least some what prepared. Doubt it though.

Okay cool story here while I am on a roll some may not know. Before Chloe I had a puppy GSD named Foster. TOTAL asshole. Jumped out of my lifted 4runner, bloody as **** and I got out to get him CONCERNED and the ****er bit me! So we got Chloe to put him in his place. laughing So my ex-wife got a lead to send Foster to Lenvenworth State Pen as a drug dog. he failed the tests as he was only 7 months old. So they give him to a local Kansas City cop without our permission, but we were glad to be rid of him and just have Chloe. Unsure how many years go by, at least 4-5.

~2 years ago I saw him in a cop car by Worlds of Fun near my house. F'n BEAUTIFUL dog. Parked next to the car at a QT and walked in, I noticed the dog. He growled at me (typical Foster). I bugged the cop and asked him the history and if he got it from the trainers at the prison. He said yes. I asked if his name was Foster and if he was fixed. "Yes he is" Told him that was prolly my old dog and asked if he was a good worker, since he was not good at the house, but could find a tennis ball in the shelves of our closets. Said he is a helluva worker and also not too great indoors, but has a heated run outside.

VERY ironic, but also very glad he is still around.

I am done now. Chloe and I are going out to play in the SNOW some. :flipoff1: :(

Chloe is a big sweetheart man, love that ol girl !! HB does too, I still remember when you came to hang with us in P town and HB was excited you were bringing her and made us get her a doggy toy for her visit ! thumb.gif

I had to get her ear drained 3 times since I have moved back and had to have surgery on it today. Several stitches

Doesn't look to bad ehh?

oh **** that sucks. is it from her flopping her ears?
Here ears are not that floppy on a normal day. Since she is 10-11 I find all this real odd that this has happened 3 times since I moved back to Iowa. Vet said a blood vessel is breaking and filling her ear with blood. It literally gets full like a balloon and if let go too long, real firm. She has always been a scratcher and head shaker, but somehow now it caused this.

The surgery and holes are to fuse the front of her ear to the cartilage and hopefully prevent this from happening again. Hope her ear stands up again is all.
