does anyone have a preference or suggestion for cleaning oil off a motor well that won't ruin the wiring as in using a cleaning agent that is safe and wont corrode stuff up afterwards??? i'm in need of a good steam/chem bath on my VW engine bay, so i can see where it's leaking/burning/eroding/destroying stuff at:redneck:

Go down to some place like Lowes or Home Depot and pick up a gallon jug of the degreaser concentrate for pressure washers. Pick up one of them pump up to pressurize bottles. Fill the bottle with the concentrate, spray directly on the engine bay. Let it sit a few, then hose it off. Works better than anything I have found yet, and is cheap. :redneck:

Im a simple green fan also. I put it on when the engine is warm and let it sit for 20 minutes. Spray it off and it looks clean. Then after it drys i put this stuff from shucks on it. Some kind of engine dress up kit. Cant remember the name.

Super Clean, Simple Green, Oil Eater, Purple Power. In order of preference. Go with Super Clean.

Just don't use Super Clean in an enclosed environment. You'll feel like you have pneumonia afterwards! It took the tobacco smoke stains off the entire 1966 mobile home I used to have (3 handicapped adults who smoked probably 3 packs a day between them) I was shocked to find out the "brown" appliances weren't! Green fridge, chrome stove, harvest gold dishwasher and master bathroom, LIGHT brown paneling and PINK bathroom fixtures!
I REALLY wished I taken pics of it before I cleaned it! (I do have before/after pics of the cabinets and counters)
