I've got my chassis pretty much bent up with new tube. Hardly any rust. I have to put my build on hold for a couple of month and want to primer it. What is the best to wipe down the oil off new tube before painting. I've done a couple of searches and got different answers, just looking for some first hand experience. I've also used some flux core wire having trouble getting into tight corners to clean it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

laquer thinner or acetone on a rag to wipe the tubes down. Make sure to get all your sharpie marks off or they will bleed thru the paint.

If you are going to paint or powder coat. You really need to blast it first anyways. Just let it rust, rusted tube blast easier than new tube.

Interested in this also, about to have to paint a lot of bare metal on my Toyota when it gets home from the fab shop. Seen brake cleaner mentioned a few times. Anyone ever had any issue with it leaving behind a residue or hindering the finish or adhesion of the paint or has it always turned out well? Always heard laquer thinner would do the trick, it's just not something I always have on hand when I get the wild hair to grab a rattle can.

I have always used fine sandpaper then wiped it down with acetone.
