Pros and Cons of the closed knuckle 70...go.

I scooped up an older w300( i think thats it) its got 70s front and rear(pretty sure its a 70 rear, might be bigger). Big block/205 with a pto winch on in. The front is a closed knuckle 70, the little info I found on them so far says..

Bigger r&p but they have smaller shafts/joints then a normal 60 at the knuckle/hub side, this true?

I remember seeing someone chop off some old d60 tubes/knuckles and sleeve them into the the 70f, this the only option without going custom knuckle/inner c? Or could I find something like the monobeam 80 that patooyee is got for sale and make those beefy knuckles/inner C work?

These will end up under my waggy at some point. I've made that decision already, just have to get there. Im thinking about unloading my trashed out 60 off the rack and dumping the cash into making the 70F.

Opinions and other options for dodge 70f knuckle & C's are what Im after :eat: :eat:

Honestly I have no clue, I haven't been able to get it home yet. Its just up the road, I'll stop by after work and get a few pictures. Its dam old tho, most of the floor and rockers are gone and the frame isn't to far behind it. The winch on the front of it is ****ing massive :****:

Some of your information is off. Later model closed knuckle 70s had 35 spline inner AND outer shafts. Off the top of my head I am recalling years around 73 to 75. They will have large external locking hubs. Older Dana 70 fronts used" tracta joints" which are not a u joint and not desirable.Other issues can be small king pin bearings and thinner tubes. Converting them to discs is another thing to address, but, to difficult. If it cheap try running it with a truss.if you are going to shoot for all out rock bouncing you probably use something newer...FYI these were used in 1 ton trucks by both dodge and IH.The ones in the IH were probably a better unit. So if you have one with 35 spline inner and outer you are in a better position.
