I think my computer hates me. I have been working the **** out of it since I got home Saturday night. At one point I had 4 videos uploading on youtube , a video uploading in movie maker and converting some to MPegs all while surfing on hardline and Pirate.
I think its about time for a new one. Anyone have any suggestions? Would have to be something with lots of memory and good for videos.

As much as this pains me to say...

Get a Mac.
It does not pain me to say it. Get a Mac. That is what I have and love it. Wish I would have gotten one before I did. The iMovie program kicks ass from what I am told, I have not used it yet myself. I have had zero problems with mine and I have had it for about 5 or 6 months now. I do not run virus scan or a firewall and it does not have all of the bullshit programs like Microsoft does that slows a pc down so much.

with the amount of video stuff you do, you'd love a mac....

I just bumped my dual processor G5 I got 3 years ago up to 8 gigs of RAM and tossed in a 1 terabyte drive recently to handle the ridiculous amount of HDV footage for AMDF3 :afro:

that being said, my "daily driver" computers are all PC's... Dell at work(does okay for interweb and ms excel), Toshiba laptop(slow as balls b/c of vista) I wish they were all Mac though... vista sucks.

I hate to admit it, but I like the new Mac thin notebook. Cole, for the **** you do a Mac is probably the answer, or just keep throwing RAM at your current machine. I am a big Microsoft guy, but the new Mac stuff is pretty nice especially for photos/videos, and all that other artsy stuff

I'm with Matt here, Not sure how much RAM your running, I know when I got Adobe Premiere, it suggested 2g's of RAM. I just went from 512mb to a little over a 1G and it has made a noticeable difference in speed on the machine.

I've also heard from a few people and reading around that a mac is a little better when doing video and such. But you should be able to upgrade your current machine for less than $100, your not wanting to go spend the cash on a brand new one.

I dont like macs but my sister has had two, and she loves them. Just have to learn how to use it. I think it would be good for videos though.

Guy I know has one and he said he had to get dumber to use it. HE said that stuff is way simpler than a PC. And by the way I asked our computer tech guys that we use at work and they are sold at the same price no matter who you get it from. Kinda like MAP pricing.

If you end up getting a mac, you can get a substantial discount for being in school so run that chit thru Ricky B or someone! thumb.gif

I think I could get you a discount....I bought my sister office 08 for MAC and got a student discount.

Just get a Mac for Video Editing and Photo...but for Business networking wise...We Mostly use Microsoft Crap or Unix....

Or

Build yourself a Quad-Core with 16gb of Ram with 4TB Raid 0 + 1 running on 64 Vista or 64 XP or Unix...Now that is smoking fast...hehe

Yeah Cole, just do that.

;D

I'm gonna get a computer, just not sure when. I don't want to spend what little money I have set back right now. To many things coming up this summer and with Diesel fuel being as high as it is.

Cole, we just picked up a new iMac desktop yesterday. lemme tell ya, this **** is awesome. So freakin easy to setup and the price is better than any PC desktop. 1GB of ram and a 250GB hard drive, 20" screen, a mac program kinda like office, 1276 bux after tax....I was able to get a military discount, so that helped a bit. also did the no interest financing till we get our "stimulus" check for the IRS. There are some good programs already on here, but if you wanna get some better editing software, they have it and it really isnt that expensive..
hope that helps ya some.

Brian

Thats good to hear Brian. I am gonna get a mac, just might be a little while. I think I am going to try and the the Mac Pro with like 4 tera bytes of ram.
