i recently swapped in a one ton 14 bolt rear end into my tow rig. i dont want to carry two spares so can the hubs be redrilled to 6 bolt to match the existing front?

i realize the center of the rim would have to be bored out to fit and the spare also but thats doable.

i searched about this and had found two companys that sold aftermarket hubs but they no longer do.

any advice?

Search Pirate.

Supposedly (not done it, but seen/read write-ups) you can turn the a 14B hub down sufficiently to clear a standard 6 or 5 on 5.5 rim. Then you need to machine off the 'nubs' on the back side and redrill the 6-lug pattern.

I think you'd pretty much be stuck doing a disc swap unless you could rig up some drum set-up.

A 14B is pretty much the only big FF you can do this with.

Might it be cheaper and easier to convert the front to 8-lug?? You'd get slightly bigger brakes to boot and you'd have all 'off the shelf' parts....

the front is easy to convert to 8 lug, that's what i did since i have the 14ff in the rear, i took an 8 lug 10 bolt and threw the outer stuff, knuckles, spindles, rotors, brake calipers, from it on the dana 44 i have that was 6 lug, and since i coverted to disc brakes in the rear also, the front and rear rotors and calipers are interchangeable:cool:

Here is a little pix of: 5 on 5.5, 6 on 5.5, 8 on 6.5.
The dana 44 hub that I have is 3.375 dia.
The 14B is 4.47.
In order to turn it to the D44 center you will have to run a SHCS and may need to turn the heads on those...

YMMV:beer:
