Pokey posted up a really cool pic in the chatterbox of his flatty in front of the cabin at Copper City...

I was wondering if you can hike to it from Bumping...

We camp around there on Labor Day weekend, that would be a cool place to bring the wife and kids for the day...

Does anyone have any info???

Thanks...

Yes you can. Its about 8 miles from where the FS has the road gated though. They are working on fixing the road this summer and it is supposed to be open for next season. Then you will be able to drive withen 1/4 of a mile of the building site. Unfortunatly this is what it looks like now.:booo:

Is it OK to ride bicycles up there???

They allow the horses to use the road so one would think that bikes would be ok. There may be some complete clousers while they are fixing the road though. I would call the naches ranger station before going.

Seriously? you have to ask if it's ok to ride bicycles up in the middle of nowhere deep in the woods. Even if a Ranger was up there and it were illegal. I think the worst you'd get is a polite verbal warning if anything at all. But way to be responsible:haha:

Yes, you now must get permission to touch nature. You must sign a release and make sure what you are touching is at least 18 yrs old.

How about unicycles?

Must I hike with my feet? Can I just shuffle them along? May I eat wild berries?

How long can I loiter in the area?

If I meet an officer, what is the proper greeting? Should I speak first? Or wait until the authority has spoken? Is eye contact O.K.? Should I stoop, or bow? Is "Hello, Mr. officer, sir", too verbose?

Can I bring a gun for protection from wild animals, or should I just bring some mild dressing that I can lather on my person for the animals pleasure, if I am attacked?

(hijack on) The government only wants you to work and pay taxes, not enjoy outdoor recreation (hijack off)

Looks like a fun place to explore :awesomework:

Jim, when was the last time the road was open for vehicles?

2006. the floods washed out the bridge and the road has been closed since. we have been getting a special use permit since then to continue our work on the trail. that is when fish and wildlife allows us to cross the streambed.

As far as needing permission to ride bikes. Only because the road is tore up and their building a new bridge so there may be saftey concerns. As I said I would call first.

Thanks Jim...

It's a good thing we have you other guys giving out info as well...:awesomework:

This show's myself and others what to expect from you...
