how hard are they to build?

Buy one from front range would be the easiest option.

For the price of the frontrange offroad kits it just seems to be a better way to go than trying to build one. The only reason I built one for the first gen toy is I had never done one before and wanted to try it. Worked good and was fun to make.

the only part that i would be worried about making is thex member mount to the tcase

If you are worried about that you could always just buy the plate that bolts to the tcase from FROR, instead of the whole mount

Front range is the way To go. Most clearance of any crossmember Ive seen.
