CTD 53 Block

So I am looking for a 1998-2002 Dodge with a CTD I was wondering if anyone new if there was any truth from experiance about the 53 block. If so how do I determine if it is a 53 Block? Is there any other things I should know?

my buddy had one in his 99 truck , he ended up changing it out because it would not hold water

The number is stamped near the vacume pump on the drivers side near the oil pan.

Personally I know a couple people who've had issues with these blocks. Other than that I don't know anything about it.

it's called stitching.. had it explained to me. no way in hell i'd try it though. and yea they are most common to cracking. but the others are not completely safe from it.. just not quite as common.
