So since my front axle has been narrowed to 62" WMS, I need a custom long side shaft. The problem is I am not sure how to measure to determine the length I need. So who knows how to do this? I have asked a few people and havn't gotten a whole lot of help.

Here is the axle.

If I were in your shoe's . Id call the people I was going to have make the shaft and get the way THEY want it measured just to be 110% positive that what you are measuring is what they want. Just when you think there is a "standard" someone does things a little different and your chopping the tip off a high dollar custom axle shaft so you can still use the bitch. laughing1 ( not that I have ever seen or heard of anyone doing that )

Stick a stock shaft in it, then measure through the carrier how much shorter you need. :dunno:

I can try that, Daniel has full width 35 spline axle shafts in the shop.

If they give you a bad formula then they will help fix the problem.

Remember, lockers and spools require different depth axles too.

Call the shaft maker and they will hook your bouncing ass up.

Can't make up my mind on shafts just yet. You have any idea when Spidertrax is going to have there 300m shafts for King Pin axles?

Yeah call whoever you are ordering from and have them tell you how to measure. I have only measured a broken shaft never an empty housing so I got nothing

Stan has a plan in the near future to get some high quality US made shafts under his own branding.

All him and see the timing on this. Ou can wait quite a while on this to see if Branik or Spidertrax come out with something.

Worse case, get some Alloy USA and make them your spares when something better is available.

Dont waste your $$ on spares yet. Get a Spicer inner cut down.

I am preaty sold on the Yukons. Seen Kim full lock winching tring to back up and it didnt hurt the shafts at all. And this was after 2 or 3 comps on them. And these are machined to turn the 50 deg. Same shaft made it through prob half one course and part of the 3rd at Jellico holding th ewheel on when the unit bearing let go. My money is going to Yukon and Stan to machine them. Might break the first time out but I have seen them take some abuse.

Last i checked and Stan confirmed at Jellico, Superior is not a current option for D60 stuff.

Alloy and Yukon can be awesome and it can be junk. That is the problem, quality control from batch to batch.

Don't forget Ouverson also does custom 60 shafts. I've got one in my front and both inners in my steer rearend are from them.

Well Kim let me drive in the race at Harlan and I was able to blow an outer. Both ears broke off. Dont think the joint broke but we couldnt find it so who knows.

Talked to Stan about his shafts. He has rears but has some work to do on the fronts. From what he says if he can get them going it will be the ****.

Still gonna be running yukons in mine.
