This has been being put off and put off because I always seemed to have something more important to fix first. So I have been working on bits and pieces now for awhile when I could find the time.
I an going to use the Tuffy Overhead Console to house my CD/MP3/XM Radio ready stereo. I'm also mounting my CB in there. Now since I like to keep the compartments lock when I am off-road I wanted to have a wired remote for the stereo. But I was running out of room on my dash. So here is what I came up with.

I cut a 2" hole in my Tuffy Center console. Then I had to trim the edge of the remote controller to fit around the lock.

Now of course things couldn't be easy and I had to cut a part of the circuit board.

Once everything fit and was back together I siliconed the opening that I had made and mounted the controller to the console.

I also had to trim the key so that is would work.

Now I'll remember which one is for the console and not my under seat drawer. Next on the list is to get everything mounted in the overhead console and get the wires ran for that. Then I will work on mounting the amp in the underseat drawer.

I also have the VDP speaker pods for the roll bar with Infinity Kappa speakers, 5 1/2" Kappa speakers for the dash & some little 6" sub-woofers for the Tuffy fenderwell boxes. More pictures as things move along.

Pssst.... isn't that # on the key the # you use to get a replacement cut to your lock? :;

Well I got some more done on the stereo install too this weekend. The center console is mounted back in place.

I also did a test fit of the overhead console.

More to pic's to follow.

Well inside the overhead console is not only the CD player & CB radio but also the reciver for XM radio & the remote unit for the wired remote.

More tomorrow as things should start coming together a little quicker now.

Well my stereo install is really coming along now. I did get a little surprise when I opened up the speaker box. I didn't know I was buying component speakers. So I had to get a little creative in where to mount the tweeters.

Had to get creative in where to mount the crossover.

Now I bought some adapters to mount 5 1/4" speakers instead of the 4X6 speakers that are stock.

Looks stock once you put the grill back on. Other than the tweeter on the roll cage you'd never know.

Next was getting the amp wired in the underseat drawer.

Got the fuse mounted on battery strap.

And then the ground wire is hooked to a seat braket bolt.

Also got the Tuffy fenderwell boxes mounted and they have 5 1/4" sub-woofers in them. I know they aren't going to THUMP but they will add a little bass to my Hank JR music.

So tomorrow I'll finish off the overhead console, getting the stereo wired and the CB too. Also need to wire the remote on the center console. At that I HOPE to take the Jeep out for some road tests.

Here are a couple more pictures of the pods. They are from VDP.
