So last night I "started" to layout my boatside skidz... that UMHW aint no joke... I flirted with it a bit just to see what I had in my possesion that would cut it decent, sawzall is a big negative laughing

Jigsaw worked pretty good but damn it was painfully slow going.

I brought my jigsaw cut smaller pieces to work and Im about to give the ol J.E.T. bandsaw a shot at it and see what I can get done with it.

fun stuff ;D

What blade on the sawzall? I would think a more aggressive blade like a wood blade might work. That **** is tough and that thick would be hell on anything.

Plasma? Torch? skully

Yeah that stuff is tough for what it is. When we have to cut here at the shop we use carbide it'll dull high speed pretty quick. I'm also going to use it for boat side skids.
4x8 sheet of 1/2 uhmw=80lbs
4x8 sheet of 1/4 ar36 plate aprox 374lbs

Just finished, man the bandsaw at work works awesome, although it looks like a 70's porno gone bad with all the lil black hair everywere laughing

My 3/4" boatside's weigh 14lbs !! thumb.gif

Did you buy a whole sheet? I just got some quotes for some I need to finish up the buggy. 4x10x.5 $351 4x10x.75 $487. That was for the black stuff that is pretty much recycled stuff and is suppost to be a little harder. The white or "natural" stuff was a good bit more expensive.....BTW its UHMW :flipoff1:
