So, I have a cylinder head, intake manifolds, valve cover, etc from a 22RE that were painted black the last time the motor was rebuilt by the PO. I want to get all the paint off them, so what would the best/easiest way to go about that? I was hoping for something chemical, but with the parts being aluminum, Im not sure if theres anything that will work well without destroying crap? Also, the head just got back from the machine shop, so its all rebuilt and Id like to avoid getting too much crap in it (such as media blasting it). I forgot that it was painted, and meant to have them work with me on getting it stripped before it was rebuilt, otherwise I would have done that. I thought about trying to put a valve cover on it with an old gasket, then putting it on a rubber mat and blasting it with old plugs in and tape over the ports to prevent stuff getting "inside". Think that would work ok? The intake manifolds and valve cover wont be AS bad since I can disassemble them as needed.
Any suggestions would be great. Obviously since the motor was running for a while with the paint before I tore it down for this rebuild and it hasn't peeled off yet, its not just gonna fall off like I hoped
