Im new to the dana 60 stuff. I made the step up to a d60 in the front of the runner and want to update the outer axle shafts and want good drive flanges. I saw how weak the ones on toy bugs buggy were down at the hammers and dont want junk like that. What are my options?

Also what is the gear ratio can I run with the 14bolt in the rear?

As for the 14b you can now run a 5.38 from what i hear. Just do full yukon axles and bobby u-joints. Std size inners should be one the shelf and cheap.

Edit: Toybug runs those weak long birf's in both his 60's.

Yukons, and S&N Flanges for this dude. Long joints in the future, as I have not broken a stock spicer yet. I would run a 60 in the rear if you have to build either.

I was talking about his weak flanges.

poly drive flanges are now solid pucks if that helps make up for mind. No lightening holes anymore.

Just call Teraflex. They're flanges are just as strong and about $100 cheaper. Plus you'll either wait 2 months for poly performance to ship your stuff or it will be the wrong stuff and 2 months late.

Yes. The drive slug material was "soft" and allowed the splines to sharpen to the point of failure.

Damn chromo / 300M shafts. :fawkdancesmiley:

The slug would have failed with any hardened shaft though.

Edit: Actually, my Poly's are the TeraFlex ones.

I have had great luck with bobbys ujoints, never broke one in 4 years..I run warn drive flanges also, but S&N are equal and a bit cheaper + they have the cool atomic blast outers :redneck:

Axles are dutchman one side and superiors the other, chromos

so far great luck

P.S. I did rip the ears off of a set of the upgraded yukon shafts.. and the ujoint held up

Yukons are by far the best bang for the buck.....though they can be a little hit and miss, and their warrenty service has also become a little shakey....though I haven't had any REAL problems w/ Yukon, its become a little harder.

Hugh and I have broken a couple yukon shafts, but 'most' of the breakage can be atributed to faulty mfg'.....soft ears and such (I'm guessing bad heat treat)....
and of course, the CTM's have lived through everything...

if I wind up going to the 47's.....I'll definitly be thinking hard about either Superior's or bobby's CV's....
