D44 histeer arm milling/drilling

Whats the hot ticket for putting a histeer arm on a waggy front and keeping it 5 lug big ford pattern?

I have to put a frontend together for my girls BII out of a waggy or hipinion ford front and it needs to be 5.5" lug circle.

I can use chevy knuckles and spindles and a certain era of ford hubs/rotors that share the same wheel bearings and chevy calipers, correct?

Or did ford ever make a make a half ton knuckle that can be milled and drilled?
 
Mill and drill

Buy a drill and screw milling the knucle. Put the arm in double sheer and never look back.....
 
How would you put a steering arm in double sheer on a dana 44?

Its tricky but I did it.

Not once did either arm loosen and I never ran conical washers...

If I still had pictures I would show it....
 
Maybe consider using Chevy flat top outers and maybe a chevy 1/2 rear end..That way you can just use 6lug yota/chevy wheels...

No you didn't. I don't think you understand what double sheer is. There is no way you could have the arm mounted to the knuckle in double sheer without welding something on the knuckle.

Theoreticly you are correct--ts actually putting the steering into double sheer.

Regardless its a proven method of retaining a TON of strength on the steering arm.,..

I belive you can put chev spindles on the waggy knuckles
then you use the old ford large spindle bearings and hub on the chev spindle.

this is how you run 5x5.5 on chevy front end. and i belive the chev spindles are the same mounting patern and dims as the waggy..

the highsteer "arms" were used in a regular fashion.

the the steering "tie rod" was in double shear.

atleast thats how i read the crash speak. :haha:
