Daily driver MT tire options?

Looking for a 37ish tire that will wear well for daily driving and have decent traction. I was actually thinking about *cough* MTR's *cough* but wasn't sure how they wore for road miles. (note:they will not be my offroad tires) I have toyo's on currently and am not to happy with them being dangerously bald only at 25k miles. Would like to get something a bit narrower than the toyos also. Let the MTR bashing begin

I was perfectly happy with my MTRs on road. Especially with snow and ice on the passes, they did great. :awesomework:

Our bfg mt km's 32's have done well for us so far and used for daily driving. So far have almost 6500 miles and almost the same size as the spare that is not used.

Already done the BFG thing...wasn't too happy with the road manners on slick/wet roads

Although I think I did get about 25k out of the tires and they were barely below 50%
 
I have 33" MTR's on a wrangler and love them- with one major exception: ROAD NOISE. As a road tire only, don't do it for that reason.

The stock rubicon size (245/75) was pretty quiet but these bigger ones are much louder. Going up to 37's could be worse.

Other than noise the MTR's have nice road manners. Smooth, no death wobble or shimmy, yaw nice, corner nice ect. My Rubicon rides like a car on the road.

Side note: Got them at Monroe Goodyear and they did a GREAT job mounting and balancing, got the impression that they took their work seriously. I've been burned by Discount and Les Schwab more than once.
 
X2 on BFG ATs
The last set on my GC got 80K with a fulltime 4x4 system. Between the tires and quadra trac the GC goes great on the road. Once the GC starts pushing snow the QT sucks.

You might want to try the BFG MT KM2's better than the Km's and more like Krawlers. They mixed the KM's and Krawlers and made the KM2's and they also can be gotten at Costco.
 
Hmmm...wasn't sure if I wanted to go totally to an AT tire but that may be an option. We'll see what magic CL can work for me :D

Would love to give them a try but I'm not dripping with the kind of money they want to sell them for

4WPW wants $400 a tire for them and they only come in 17's so far...would mean new wheels

I'm running 35" Goodyear MTRs. I have about 60k on them and they still have 30-40% percent of thier tread left. I do have them rotated and balanced every 3k though. I have been very happy with thier performance. I don't notice and exsessive amount of road noise either. They are mounted on a 04 Wrangler unlimited with a soft top.

i dont know what the oficial load ratings are, they dont list them on there web page. http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs/mud-terrain-t-a-km2/3930.html but on my 18's id have to run a 37 to get enough load capacity to be able to run EMPTY. :corn: not what id concider a tow rig tire ......... unless you want 37's...

:eeek: i re read bfg's page, most sizes are ether c or d range :puke: only a couple small sizes in e :mad: i thought they wanted to cater to the off road market?

From what I had heard...the second release of the KM2 will include the smaller rim and tire sizes next spring.
