Picking up a new toy this weekend and thought id share it.

89 std. cab toyota with a bad tranny and needs valves adjusted on a 22re(anyone?)- $1800, might try and talk down to $1500:; right now it sets on 33s and still IFS

OR

That 87 runner on the craigslist finds, if i can get ahold of him. anyways both rigs will have the same setup.

My thoughts: Cut and scrap all the IFS and sell the rear diff. for extra money. Using SKy full width kit ill be mounting my front dana 60 from the last toy. maintain the homebrew 4" leafs BUT instead of 85 main leaf, use 89s. Few inches longer and better tire/fender clearence.

Having the diff mounted up ill order up some BTF hi-steer arms and FW tierod (think they sell them). Also ask about custom draglink for FJ80 TRE at the box and 1 ton TRE at the arm, custom length. with the front end pretty much settle.

Now with the rear ill be tracking down some 57" long wagoneer leafs. plenty flex and ride well. with those hanging ill mount up the rear dana 70 as well from the last toy. installing the rear disk brake setup. getting a actual antiwrap bar made by someone that has alittle more experiance. with diffs pretty much covered ill go with the drivetrain.

Leave the 22re stock and running dual case. basic setup and dont need much to turn 39" Iroks or 38.5 SXs on 4.5" BS crawler rims.

Anyone have thoughts about this, feedback is needed.

Sounds a lot like the project truck you got rid of??... Didn't you have an 89 std cab toyota???

soooooooo why didnt you just keep the truck you had and finished it and made it a daily driver???

I think you like building them more than you like actually wheeling them Paul. :flipoff:

I'm doubting the "daily-driveability" of a toy on one tons and 38 or 39" tires... but hey, go for it. Other than the fact that you don't have the rig yet, I think it sounds solid. :D

Did you sell the other truck or part it out or what? If you still have it... why not just keep it and finish the little stuff that needs doing instead of starting all over?

This is what i was trying to say.

I didn't mean to start a Paul bashing thread...

Narrow the axles so it isnt on roids. I can probably hook ya up with a tie rod/drag link as well.

i still have that truck but i hate that motor setup. would like a small block with duals to a 300.

Small block torque going to duals AND a 300? I say small block to auto with a stall and 300. Keep the drivetrain length short.

If you go small block i assume you'll be doing a fuel injection small block?? cuz if you go carbed your gonna hate that just as much as your 3.0 Why not run what you got till it blows up...

His axles are too wide so it aint street legal.

wasnt much wider than a toyota with 2.5" BS rims and 2" spacers. bushwackers and flaps should be fine. all the halfass **** will be fixed or replaced

I dont want to sound repetitious but if you put the 1800 you were buying something else with into your current rig you could have a f/i sbc with an auto and d300. It does bring up emissions issues and just build a flatbed for it if the box is bad.(mentioned it was rough in sale post) I thought you were having issues though with fitting a windshield too? I would build the 4runner for more room if you want something new. Also keep the axles full width and run custom b/s wheels mayb even hummer locks if necessary. I wished I never narrowed mine.

thats what i realized what would be better. as for that motor combo thats what i had runnin through my head, out here we dont need admissions, out of county. what tranny bolts to a 5.0l Mustang motor out of a 86ish

I am not a ford guy but I think old school is a c4, or c6. I think the c6 adapter to the t-case is long. C4 4x4 trannys are hard to find. Then you have the overdrive autos like a e4od I think. I dont know if they require a speed sensor and computer like the newer GM ones do. At the very least probably a lockup switch. I like chevy for their simplicity and ease of parts locating. Good luck with your project sounds like it will be a sturdy foundation to drive on the street.

I second the chev drivetrain, cheap, plentiful and all that. Finding a small block c6 4x4 trans aint easy, But you dont need a adaptor to hook to a 300. A c4 4x4 is a tottaly harder trans to find and you need a $500 or so adaptor to hook to a 300.

So whats a good chevy small block setup that has fuel injection. alot of guys do 4.3 but i want a SB350 with TB350 to a single toy case, then a 300. that setup shouldnt be long, ill put the radiater in the back if i need the motor foward more.
