I have a friend who has a Dana 35. He has the C-clip type. His carrier is broken, and I have a non-c-clip carrier in good shape, he is very tight on Money, so he wants to know if my carrier out of a 1988 XJ non-C will work in a 1997 TJ C-Clip. The lock-right fits in, but the side gears are kind of sloppy, but the shaft is sloppy in both carriers. So I am not sure if the side gears have to be tight, or if they are sloppy if it is OK. If anyone has some info if this will work, please let me know.

As far as I recall they are not the same.

I ran across differences when doing a gear swap awhile ago.

I have a complete 35C from a 95 YJ sitting in my yard also:D

Edit: the side gears need to be fairly snug for the lunch box locker to work properly.

I just need the carrier, how much??

I would prefer to sell whole and I would like more than you could buy just the carrier I want to say they are only like 50-75 $$$$ from Randy's.

I would like $75 for the whole rear(brakes have been robbed to the backing plate.)

So is the carrier the same everywhere else, like Bearings, dimensions, everything else, so that if we install an older Lock-right in the older carrier, it will work.

:eeek: :eeek:

I though this was a c-clip axle

Yes, you could install a lock-right in the older carrier but as that said locker is not made for c-clips your axles would be free to vacate the rear at any time:eeek:

You are working on a c-clip axle---right?

the locker is made for both C-clips, and non c-clips, it is some new design.
