So i installed my front 60 lockright this weekend...

Seemed like a fairly straight forward install.
pull cross pin, drop spiders, install lockrite, pins, springs...
has gap in middle while sitting there on bench (ie..in locked position)

installed in rig, backed out of shop and LOUD pop from left front hub... then rolled fine...
drove around yard and when turning there is a series of LOUD pops and binding on the long side(driver) axle shaft... will stop truck from rolling, the pop and release....
thought it was lockout, but swapped sides on lockouts and its still driver side... does not pop when driver hub unlocked.
does not pop under load at all..ie..pull driver or passenger tire up tree, functions properly...
But randomly driving around yard (mostly when turning) with boths lockouts locked get a Binding and pop on driver side...

Took locker out, dissasembled front, No signs of anything slipping or binding... Im lost... ???

Did you measure the gap in the middle. It has been 10 plus years since I messed with a lock right. However, 10 years ago that is how you determined if it was installed and shimmed correctly....there was an acceptable range for a dana 60 lock right...maybe .134 to .158 or so of a gap. Measure with feeler gauges. Look in your manual and should tell you the acceptable tolerances.

That is normal if you shim it loose, thats the locker working. i always shim mine tighter than specs they send, you use regular diff shims

so shim it between the locker and carrier??? effectively compressing the gap in the middle (locked position)
still not 100% on where to shim it? any idea of a proper gap when its in the locked position? measurement?

thanks a ton guys, new to the lunchbox locker scene.. have always ran detroits...

Call chase at east coast gear supply and he will be able to tell you exactly what to do.

I just read Carefully throught the generic instruction manual...
Final gap has a tolerance that has to be shimmed out under the side gears... well my side gears didn'thave Any shims....
guess i'll have to come up with some...

anyone have any dana 60 side gear shims layin around....

Before I read this I was going to say Spider Gear Shims. Sounds like you figured it out. I don't have any I bet EOR has some laying around.

Got a toolbox full of shims leftover from 25 years of mud racing.

If I don't have it Drew has a good stash going as well.
