I even got on the web and searched it and until i talk to a ring&pinion manufacturer i wont know for sure unless someone on here has done it

I KNOW they are both 10.5 inch ring gears, but I guess something could still be different

Dana 70 gears are all the same. The difference is the HD versions have bigger carrier bearings which makes the carrier slightly narrower.

The newer gear sets require a spacer under the pinion preload shim pack that has a bevel or radius to match the redesigned pinion. The Spicer part number is DS 41009. http://www.yukongear.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProdID=12363
I ran into problems once because of this when building a D70HD. I had even bigger problems building a Jana76 using an older style Dana 70 gear set that didn't use the spacer.
