Anybody have an specific real life experience with this locker and its possible application in for a toyota front axle?

I do. It makes little noise and tends to unload once the tire gets off the ground..All ya gotta do is give it some brake and throttle to lock the front and stay moving. I will be a jerky in saying that hitting two buttons and driving with confidence is better.

I'v had them in the front of two of my rigs and they work great but I would never run one in the rear.

Got one in the front of the Samurai. Works great up front. They can be irritating in the rear though.

FYI, you lose some turning radius locked up front, power steering makes things much easier too. And if you're running standard birfs, then don't gun it in reverse with the wheels turned. Makes a really cool pop, and then you get to drive out in 3wd

i'm running 39.5's with a lockright (with no problems) and going to switch over to a highpinion and possibley a new, or better, or cheaper locker. Don't want to pay 500 for a full detroit. I would like to weld it and spend the savings on a ram assist. Bobby's got the front axle covered and im getting the cryoed reverse cut v-6 5.29's.

I've known a couple of people who have stripped the teeth off of the Detroit EZ/genuine gear quick lock... seems the metal isn't quite up to par with the lock rite. The Aussie is reguarded as the top lunchbox at the moment... has a better teeth cut and metal quality than the lock rite.

i don't see why people hate them in the rear so much, mine is pretty transparent in the '79. parking lots kinda suck but they always have with the long ass wheelbase, steering needing an alignment and the ps not hooked up anyway.

Have one in the front for now (again) works great untill u break a pin and it falls into ur ring and pinion and wipes them out :puke: . Just gonna run mine untill I get my HP ARB installed. (calling white trash).
