If you live in an area where emissions tests are required, do you have to smog a diesel rig?

Also, I'm going to Chicago in may, and the tabs on my new truck expire in august. Are there any loopholes to getting around emissions if you are Military and currently out of the area? I will have my TJ out there too, and it will require emissions this year.

Diesels have the SNAP test... I think that's what its called...

For getting an exemption on emissions for being out of state go down to your local DMV or where ever you buy your tabs, and they'll give you the form. Its super easy to fill out. The only down side is you have to get it notarized. I've done it the past two times i've needed tabs since i go to school outa state, and we've had no problems:cheer:

You can have your truck emission tested and renew you registration before you leave the state. I had one of my vehicles tested 6 months early one year.
