differences in air shocks to coil overs

My take on this is that air shocks work better on a lighter rig 3000-3500lbs or less, need alot of tuning to perform well, are not as consistant in hot weather. BUt are cheaper, more compact, and lighter. I run both, and prefer coilovers.

Depends on what you are trying to achieve, the only way that you would wanna run air shock's is it is a dedicated rock rig, if just like to rock crawl but mostly wheel locally then go with a coilover. Struts have virtually no spring rate and are less likely to unload while sidehilling, and in instances like for example the rock face at reiter, when you've gotta bump it to get the rear tires to start climbing on impact with the rear tires it is less likely to "bounce" and more like it soak's up the shock and stick's to the ground. The price difference isn't that much because if you wanna trail ride with strut's you've gotta figure in the price of a kidney belt. Also for the same strut's that you see the rock crawler's using the max vehicle weight is 3500, even at that you are running them with more nitrogen and oil then they are intended.

OMG I just made a post that wasn't picking on somebody:cheer:

I try not to give any good tech, I don't want a know it all rep like a certain little kid from lake stevens *coughseanccough*

Shorty :D

Even on a lighter rig I prefer coilovers...

1)If you loose pressure in the air shock---down it goes
2)IMO the coilover can handle the higher speed bumps and the rebound is smoother.
