Simple poll . Would you prefer disc upfront and drums in the rear or 4 wheel disc?

He he he, this should be good.

Off road there is no question that discs shed mud and water better than drumbs. Wet and muddy brakes don't stop.

That said, if clean and dry I've seen some drumb brake sysems that flat out rocked in stopping power. Drumb brakes by their design have more pad surface area and cool equal or better to disks. I've spent way more time bitching about disk brakes than drumb systems in general.

Drumbs can shed water pretty fast but not as fast as disks. Once drumbs load up with muddy glorp its all over and disks win hands down.

i have disc in front and drum out back... I think i will go discs... prolly when i go full float in the rear. :awesomework:

I used to have non-self-adjusting drums with 2 double-acting cylinders all the way around on a single-circuit system. Being an expert on adjusting those things is one skill I wish I didn't earn. It's almost an art form to get it to stop in a straight line.

I converted to 4wdb a while back and love it. Like, "want to make sweet hot passionate love to it" love it. Seriously, it's that much better.

The drums had a decent amount of stopping power while moving forward on the road, but the maintenance was ridiculous, and they flat sucked off road. They were useless after getting wet or filled with mud, and even when they were dry they barely worked in reverse (cam action of the shoes and all that).

Disks FTW.

It's called a rock :fawkdancesmiley:

Well yeah but the other day there were no rocks available so I had to use a tree and you know that whole tree hugging thing I just don't want to get "labeled" as a hugger:fawkdancesmiley:

Tie a rope to the next one you find and carry it along with you. Make the rope long enough to lean out and swing it into place. The "swinging it into place" part may take some practice. Truly :redneck: .
