DIY Beadlocks?

well the questions i have are.

i have semichrome rims, in other words rusting and peeling in spots. i was wondering if i can still do diy beadlocks?

and since i don't presently have a mig welder at my house. whos a good company or person to go through to get them done?

what's the going price to get them welded on?

the rims are going to be powdercoated over.

Well your going to have to clean up those rims to get them welded. I would talk to MarcW on the board about welding...

You'll have to remove the chrome around the rim where the rings are welded on. Also check to see if your valve stem location is ok, they might need to be moved inboard.

You'll need to get them stripped to powdercoat them. Find a someone with a big sandblaster.

i have family that owns a sand blasting and bead blasting company. and has been around the powdercoating industy for the last 20+ years. pretty much was told to clean up the loose chrome and it can be coated over the chrome. it'll take too much material off to blast the chrome off and isn't worth the effort. so if not, i'll just buy new rims...

My family owns a powdercoating shop

and I know it doesn't stick to good.

I'd at a minumum bead blast it to roughen it up.

not sure on where you are local to... I am in Graham.. but if you cannot find someone to weld them up.. hit me up and we can work something out.

I can get them welded for you, no problem.

they were going to bead blast them just not all the chrome off. do to how much would have to be done and it wouldn't be great for the rims after that much blasting.

i live in yuma, az. i'll be living in gig harbor starting july with my dad. my mom and stepdad live in the marysville/everett area. i won't be actually getting this done for months. just inquiring
