my fifth gear nut has removed its self for its second time now. the first time i just did the cheap easy fix of welding it and of course the welds have broke im guessing (havent pulled it apart to look yet). so what is the best and strongest way to fix this from ever happening again?

the updated 5th gear nut is cheap. I've heard, and seen many people weld on the nut. All it does is screws it up more. I have no idea why people do it. I can't say the nut has helped mine because i never lost it in the 1st place. But I definitely tow a decent amount and screw around a decent amount in 5th gear and have never had a problem.

Theres a nut that has set screws in it..

I say auto as well..Makes towing soooo much easier.

is pdr the only place that has a updated nut? there the only place i kind find one. and for welding it i didnt think about it really tell after i did it. my own dumb mistake.

for some reason it likes to go out when im over 100miles from home towing a load.

thats what you get for breaking chris's jeep! haha sorry babe... now get your 4 runner going!

Isnt there a different shaft thats fully splined or something?

i dont no what there is out there to fix this besides the new nut. i was hoping someone on here has found a bullit proof fix so i will never have to deal with it again.

i have searched on a few sites but wasnt able to find much.

I think leadfoot did all of that and still had issues..

I didn't buy the nut through PDR. I'll have to ask tomorrow if they are in fact the only one that sells them. I have a hard time believing that's the case.

Dude you have the updated nut! I can't believe the welds broke. You welded the crap out of that thing and we turned the jam screws in! If you need my garage just lemme know.
