Drain Bolt

I discovered today that the PO (or whoever changed the trans fluid last) pretty much destroyed the drain bolt on the transmission. I'm going to buy a new one, but I have to get the old one off first. The right size socket (15/16) is too big, and a 7/8 is too small. How can I get this old plug out?

Use a 15/16 6 point socket with an impact--hold it tight against the tranny and tap the gun....

Tried that, our impact gun is the suck.

I dont have anything close to big enough in metric. Biggest I've got is a 19. I would just go buy the socket, but I'm replacing the bolt, and it might not be the same size.

had the same problem. just used a good pair of channel locks and came off with ease

Yeah, the fill plug is no problem.
