I hook up my Debbie light to my alternator. It is hooked up to power on one side. And the alternator on the other side. I understood it was supposed to light up when the alternator was not charging. And then turn off as a powered up. But mine is doing the opposite it is dead when offand live when Charging? SbC 350

I am thinking my alternator may not be grounded sufficiently. I thought the case was grounded through the engine bracket. Is this not the case

I hooked up a ground to my L. Terminal wire and the light lit up like it should. So I'm thinking I'm missing a ground somehow. But then I was told it grounds through the case so I'm not sure what to do?

Re:

Ground the alternator, it won't hurt any thing. In car stereos we always added a direct ground from the battery to the alternator, it helps charge better anyway
