I know someone on here has one of the Eastwood Tig machines can't remember who tho, but was wondering what your opinion is on it ,or anyone who has used em, vs others in a similar $$$ range. Lookin at making a purchase one with income tax and curious about these machines thanks for any input

I used a Eastwood mig welder at my last job and was very impressed with it. The welder done just as good as any Lincoln, miller, or snap-on I've used. Would I buy one? Idk honestly depending on the price difference between a miller (I haven't looked) or lincoln

Re:

Stick to Miller, Lincoln, Hobart , Esab that your local weld supply store sells and services. Many people have gotten screwed on these no name Chinese welders.

I do agree with this. It'd suck for your welder to mess up and have to order a part instead of driving to your local welding supply store and picking it up

Re:

I have a Eastwood mig welder and love it. Have not had 1 minute of trouble and it takes normal consumables that are easy to get. We have a large miller at our main shop and would buy another Eastwood in a second

Ive got an old millermatic 185 might and love it but I keep getting emails from eastwood advertising a tig machine for around 800 buck DC only and no aluminum capabilities but thats alot cheaper thanks the cheapest miller machine ive found but they have aluminum capability. I'd be a nice feature to have to learn but not a needed ya know and ive got at least 4 or 5 big local welding shops locally so consumables is no worry but good to know guys thanks

I run an Eastwood tig 200....

You can also get a Miller or Lincoln with just DC welding but if you think your going to weld AL you are going to want to go ahead and get AC
Im talking about the consumables for the tig torch. Collet and collet bod and your cup. Just like everything else made there is a cheaper version and sometimes you don' get a good fitment. Like most of the things from Harbor Freight, they work but sometimes not as good.

I been thinking about nabbing up a Eastwood plasma. Read pretty good things about there welding/cutting stuff but that there customer service was kinda janky when they **** the bed.

David your the one I was speaking of on the original post now I see those welds again how do you rate it against other machines as I can tell you are an experienced welder and don't you also have one of there plasmas as well again your honest opinions on both would be appreciated and it compared to Millers as I don't care for Lincoln's welders but is it worth it or save up a bit more coin and go blue and thanks for any awnsers

Well, when the opportunity to chose a machine presented itself, I was given a budget based off a used Miller Syncrowave 250. This would be ideal if I were doing production welding, but I am just starting so I chose the Eastwood Tig 200/plasma 40 combo and I'll tell you why.

The versatity this combo allows makes my garage a Fab shop. Rather than just buying one big badass welder, I can do so much more with this super affordable combo. Basically, the welder is super awesome if you can use good skills to accomodate for what it lacks. The machine is just simplified. It has everything it needs though, more power than you would think and 2 fans in the rear. It doesn't have any fancy buttons that help you weld better like more expensive machines showcase. Also, talking about simplified - my theory is there is a better chance of this thing being more reliable. The foot petal is odd and rugged , but tough. The regulator seems to act up. Haven't figured that thing out yet. The inverter technology has to be more efficient than a big welder. By the way, it welds really good on 110V too.

I expected problems out of this deal, and I was ready for anything. I'm not the type of guy that is going to get all fired up because something malfunctions.

The first one they sent me wouldn't stop pumping argon. They sent a new gas solenoid and it didn't work. Then they just sent me a new machine. It's solid.

On a scale of 1-10. If your in a garage like me, I rate this machine an 11, if you can change or deal with the knick nack ****.

The plasma cutter is awesome too, no problems with it at all. The small size of this equipment is killer in my garage and the combo packs a huge punch.

And the Eastwood company is in Pennsylvania just so ya'll know. I've had no bad experiences with their customer service. Their as American as it gets. Their just not very big yet. I haven't had to buy any consumables for the plasma cutter yet, but I buy all my consumables at Air Gas.

I personally don't like combo units, 2-processes, 1- power unit. Something goes wrong with one it generally effects the other as well. Does Eastwood make/produce their units in house in PA? The reason I ask is I was under the impression they were rebadged units from another manufacture.

They don't even offer a combo unit like that. Not sure if I've ever seen one. The welder is one machine and the plasma is another machine. I would assume the machines are assembled in PA. No doubt there are parts from other countries. I've never been to the facility, so I can't elaborate on that.

Re: Re: Eastwood welders

I have one of there Mig welders and used it for a good year and a half until I got a deal on a miller 251 I could turn down. It did great and when I got it the leads on them were Tweco so all the consumables you could find very easily, to my knowledge my grandfather is using it still in his shop.

Yah the plas / welder combos are really NOT combos......just a deal they offer when you buy them together.

How thick a metal you cuttin with that Eastwood 40amp plas? Cutting nicely and not taking all day is what I mean.

How does it do on its rated 3/8"? Id like to do some of my link brackets out of 3/8". DANG that is a smokin deal on that TIG/Plas combo!!
