Im lookin at a 99 toyota Tacomma with a electronic e-locker, dont know anything about that type of locker , what is it? how does it work? would it make a good wheeler? is it reliable? thanks

Hi All:

Not to bring this thread back on topic or anything, but Mr. Toyoda started fitting e-lockers in the US-market FZJ80 Land Cruisers in 1994 (IIRC.) These have a good reputation for strength and reliability.

I believe the version of the e-locker fitted in 4Runner and Tacoma rearends is similar to the e-locker in the front of the FZJ80 (a high-pinion 8 inch diff.)

I know a lot of guys who run the factory e-locker, either as a custom swap in an older Toyota, or as came stock in their 80 Series Land Cruiser. I have never heard of them having a problem.
