is there some place I can buy a load leveler for a engine hoist in the Everett/marysville/monroe area?

I dont have advice on where to get one.

But dont buy the cheap ones. I had one bust a cast roller and that let the allthread adjuster support all the weight. Big mess.

Look close at the roller and the track they roll on when adjusted, if it looks cheesy, stay away.

yeah thats why I wanted to go look at them all the ones I have found so far online look cheesy

sounds like your on the right track.

My old shop had an electric hoist on a track. I had an older smal chain hoist from years past.

SO...

.......I used to take the chain hoists main hook (the one it would normaly hang from on a beam) and hook it to the chain coming down from my electric hoist (basicly a hoist hanging a hoist), then I would bolt the engine to the lower hoists hanging chain and the tail of the same chain that exits the hoist.

Then you just cranked on the lower hoist to change the angle of the attached engine and cranked on the electric one to raise and lower it.

While not practicle if using a picker (not enough height to rig it) it works killer on a trolley or hoist.

(that might be kinda confusing?)

You can buy levelers that work just like that. A short chain w/ 2 hooks ran through a gearbox with a brake. They are more expensive but work way better than the jack screw type. I just shake my head when I see a $5000 motor hanging on a HarborFreight leveler:rolleyes:

Tool town in Totem Lake?
Harbor Freight in Everett?
Shucks/Oreilies/Napa?
What about that auto parts house that the end of Monroe?

How long you need it? I got one one permanent loan from a friend you could borrow for a bit... I need to do the same thing as you..... but I think your a bit ahead of me :D

I'll be in monroe tomorrow evening, and stopping at brad's on my way home.

borrowing one would work but I wouldn't mind owning one of my very own...

I have tried a couple of the local monroe places no luck of them having one on their selfs but I have not tried highway auto and tool town might be a good option.

Look closely at the roller on the bottom of that rail. Thats the same one that parked my engine on the floor abruptly. On mine the roller let go and it bent the allthread all to ****.

Hope you have better luck than me.

There all pretty close to the same thing but I found one that has a 4000lb rating but I don't like buying from random places online... I am trustuing summit that they know what products they sell. But we will see.

Any updates on this? I need one also, but I wanted to see if yours works good or not b4 I buy.

I have an engine swinging on the one I bought from summit :redneck: seems to be working fine.

If you are worried about the rollors, but a safety chain around it so if the rollors decide to fall apart at least the chain will catch it and keep it off the floor.
