So I'm sure most of you know I'm a faithfull fullsize guy! Well a friend of mine just finished his resto on a 78 highboy, he used a 2wheeldrive 78 f250 for parts and panels. . . .

Well here my questions? this thing has a built 460 in it, In my truck I have the super disappointing 400m! I was wondering How hard it would be t swap motors and still retain my C6 i have now?????

What would I have to change?
Can i keep the same tranny I have now???
Is the power and torque increase worth the time and effort???

I ask because I have the option of getting the truck for a whole whopping $100 and I can drive it home!

A buddy of mine and I did the swap from 400 to 460 in a 79f250; the 460 will bolt up to the c6; Using L&L mounts;some slight mods to exh; even still using the front sump pan left a 1/2 in between it and the crossmember!!(Alot of research said you have to go to a rear sump pan-only thing we did was move the brake line to the front side of the crossmember from the back side;otherwise, it was a pretty straight forward deal!!! worth doin'!!!he even gained a couple miles per gallon!!!(from 7 to 9!!!)

increased mileasge from 7 to 9 mpg with the 460 ovet thte 400? that defies all ogic that ic am capable of at this time.

The c-6 will mate to both. I used L&L motor mounts, alt bracket, pwr str pump and headers. You dont have to use all that but it makes it easier. I had to use a rear sump pan due to the coil sprung D44 (Trac bar in the way). Im talking from 78/79 Bronco experience so it may be different for you.

Bronczilla's right about 460 powering a Bronco;:awesomework: There was one other thing:rolleyes:(I forgot!!) ; we needed to change fuel pump also as the original hung down too low and hit the crossmember; we changed to a different yr 460 pump, which had a shorter body length. Hope this helps!!! Good luck-either way, for a hundred bucks, and it runs, No brainer in my book!!!(As long as there's a title, or some paperwork that'll let you take to scrap when done with it!!!
Almost seems like Dain Bramage may have been coherent!!!!:fawkdancesmiley: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Thats just crazy talk:fawkdancesmiley:

well i'm putting this in my 77f250, I dont know if any of you have seen it lately but judging by its current state, i think pulling the motor and doing a swap should be super easy!! I have no inner or outer fenders, along with a cut down hood that just pulls right off!!

I kinda doubt i will see any mileage improvements considering with my 400 out wheeling I get about 2-6 with my current setup. . . . I'm just hoping for a good jump in power, the 400 leaves ya wanting more alot of the time!

Well Bronczilla hooked it up with a new C6, and I just got done rebuilding my 205, so I am gonna get those all set up first, then go grab that motor and break it down to just a block and put in all new bearing seals etc. and then drop the whole drivetrain in at once!!! So maybe be done in about 2-3weeks:D

Then at that point, I'm gonna be at 109in wheelbase:cool: , twin stick my 205 with ords modified shift rails to have front and rear wheel drive!!

Thanx for all the info guys I will keep ya updated!!!

Thanx again Bronczilla!!!!! Your the man bro:cool:
