I needed to get your attention, but there has been a rumor floating around that this is a possibility, but currently it's at rumor stage only. The rumor has included a seasonal closure for the winter months... If you want to find out what's happening and get involved, please see if you can attend.

Here's an agenda for the White River Recreation Meeting - Tuesday June 13th - in case you did not receive the announcement. Arlene

That is assinine! Winter is the only time that place is worth a damn! Why is it at the DNR? Its FS property. Gibby, do you have an address for the building?

No address. Give them a call.

they use the meeting room at the DNR office because they dont have one big enough in the new office (dariy queen) I dont know the addy but as you leave enumclaw going east on 410 its right before the road to the fair grounds. real easy to find.

I saw this on another board.
The rumor started last month at the Town meeting....

The emergency response levels are getting to high during the winter months.

As far as my co-worker told me who lives in Wilkson. They are targeting
certian trails,,, Not the whole mountian.........

Ironic. The town of Wilkeson gets lots of $ from people wheeling in the winter there. The ones they will target are probably the best ones to wheel in winter.

You going Jim?

Gonna try, I will call Bob or mary in the morning and try to get some straight scoop on whats going on. Whereas a seasonal clouser could be a possibility closing the park down is not very likely.

Flyer info.

I understand the seasonal closure Jim. But my issue is that winter is the only time many of us enjoy going to Evans. A partial closure would be ok as long as trails like the 311, 520, 197 are not part of it, but I doubt that. The death up there a couple years back was the result of a broken brake line, not the weather. Could have happened anytime. I would like more details on what they consider increased emergency responses during winter.

I spoke will Bob Pacific this morning and asked him to send me something for a qoute and here it is. We need to try real hard when dealing with govt agancys to deal with facts and not rumors so things dont get out of hand :redneck:

Hey Jim. Hope this will clarify some questions and dampen the rumors on
Evans Creek. The Snoqualmie Ranger District received a NOVA planning
grant from IAC in the fall of 2005 to produce an Evans Creek ORV
Improvement Plan. The objective is to look at the existing situation and
establish a plan that will address the existing issues, concerns and
opporttunities such as safety, resource impacts , inadequated trail
system, insufficient campground and dayuse facilities, vandalism problems
and illegal activity. At present, Evans Creek does not meet the Mt
Baker-Snoqualmie Land Management Plan standards and guidelines on several
of these issues so the goal is to improve/mitigate conditions at Evans
Creek so it does comply with these guidelines At this time, the Forest
Service is just in the early information gathering phase of the project and
it will likely be a 2- 3 year process. As far as the end result, we really
dont know until we go through the required process but there will likely
be some changes to the existing situation.

I think you'll have to go to the meeting to get the info.

Good work Jim! That's the kind of info. I can work with. I will try to make the meeting, but it's quite a drive for me and I'll be in Everett until about 6:00 that night. Not sure I could make it in an hour.
