exhuast brake

I just didn't run it because I wanted as little in the way of airflow as possible.. But for pretty much everyone it's a must in my eyes. I'll probably end up adding one if the inline brakes are as good as the turbo mounted ones.

I was fortunate that my truck had one on it when I bought it. It was apparently an original dealer installed option. Looking at the prices for new ones I am sure that I would be hesitant to pay so much for one, but having had one now I can't imagine having a diesel truck without one, especially if you haul or tow heavy.

Mine came with one from the factory as well. I was stoked when I opened the hood and saw that it allready had a $1000 upgrade :cheer:

I wish mine had one, steaming down the west side of 90 in 5th at 3 grand last weekend sucked. :booo:

Put my first one on in January. Don't know how I lived without it. Saw your sig mentioned Ford. Club member is a Ford dealership mechanic. They had a Ford come in with a Banks Ebrake. Owner used the Ebrake the entire time coming down the pass (I-90?). It overheated the engine. Engine was not repairable. Don't know the particulars: 7.3 or 6.0, manual or auto. Was it even installed correctly? Whatever you purchase make sure it's for your vehicle and electronics of the vehicle. Double check your install.

If this is a manual Dodge, unbolt and bolt. Have fun.

The one we install is the PacBrake inline brake. Very easy install on most trucks. Works flawlessly, doesn't restrict flow, and doesn't increase noise when not in use.

Like wcjp said, the new Dodge is an unbolt and bolt in (for the most part) install. You guys on the other side of the hill can go up and have one installed at the factory for $1000 Canadian. I don't think the price of fuel would be justifiable for anyone farther south or east to run over there.

The cool thing about Fords with the 7.3, is they have a built in exhaust brake. Just takes a switch, a couple of diodes, and a couple of hours of your time. You basically tap into the warm up valve thats after the turbo. By flipping the switch, you effectively close the valve. Instant exhaust brake. I use mine all the time. Well worth the couple of hours it took to wire up. :awesomework:

Here is how you wire it up. http://www.swamp-donkey.biz/content/faq/EBPV_Brake.htm

If you have an automatic, you will need to do a torque converter lock up. Its very simple, just follow along http://www.forgotton.net/mods/tclock/index.htm
