I just picked up a 90 f350 with a 6.9 and a banks turbo I was told tire size wont mess with yer gas mileage and was wondering if that was true on this engine setup.. I know it does on gas engines this is my first diesel. I was also wondering whats the largest tire size I could get on a stock f350 suspension setup.. Also what 8 lug patterns does my truck share with other vehicles??

how well do they fit?? i was thinking of going militart 37's i heard they are durable and get tones of miles off them.. Got a snap shot?

90 is a 7.3 not a 6.9. 37's fit with only a trim on the front edge of the fenders. Depending on gears and trans you can get anywhere between 10-21 mpg. Too many variables to be more specific.

This is my tow rig sitting on 37's. :D

90 should be an E4od. Decent trans but big $$$ to rebuild to take abuse. It will probably have 3.55's in it. Your mileage will be decent if you keep your foot out of it but then you'll be doing 15 mph up hills. :haha:

Well the guy said it had a c6 its suppose to have a 7.3 as well but he bought the truck with no engine and dropped this 6.9 in as a crate engine.. If its going to kill my towing then im not too worried about it then ill stick with the 32's it has on it now..

With a turbo you'll be slow to get up to speed but it'll tow just fine down the road. Now that I think of it yes you should have a C6 the E4od didnt' come out till 93ish.

With no overdrive you'll be good to get some taller tires on there especially if you have 3.55's. Register on oilburners.net the guys there know more about these trucks than anyone normal person should. :D

theres nothing posted at all in there i dont know if I gotta pay or what just has nothing anywhere on anything lol

It's a free site with very good tech. There are vendors that do custom cam grinds and rebuild pumps and injectors as well on there.

I had a 92 f350 4dr with a 7.3 turbo always looked for front springs to lift it hard to find it smoked but was reliable with 358 k on motor/rig. I was only running 32 though.

things that went bad were

*starter
*glow plug relay/glowplugs
*abs sensor in rear end went out caused the tranny not to shift
*went through a sterling rear end
*completly rebuilt the front d 60 4;10grs(billy bobs) $1100
*then the tranny blew out on the way up to evens creek one day

so i sold the thing friend has it he replaced the trans and now he's liking it $2000 later ,I still kinda missed that rig towed great nice an heavy.

its all set to private

Why do you think I said to JOIN the board? :haha:

Glow plugs are a common deal to replace, there is only one brand worth buying and that is BERU made it Germany, they are factory motorcraft. The glow plug relay is common to die too but it is just a ford starter solenoid. The Glow plug controller dies too and it can be replaced with a momentary push button to light the plugs. The starter is only $100 for a gear reduction unit from b-d elctronics.

That year truck the bolt patern should match dodge i know i have swaped rims from the same exact truck to a 96 dodge 2500
