I had a hell of a day on the farm.

My wife gave me a pile of chores to do before she headed to a birthday party and the nursery to buy plants.

Will and I hooked up the dump trailer to the 100hp 4x4 tractor and headed to the back of the property where we have a nice dirt pit. My dad was back there in the excavator and he filled the trailer up to the rim with perfect topsoil/mulch for a project my wife dreamed up.

Of course, this turned into 10 trailer loads of topsoil for 4 different beds and her garden. By about the 5th trip with the WAY overloaded dump trailer, the road gave away and the trailer sunk.

So, I needed to find another route from the dirt pit and Will was tired of the tractor.

We jumped in "rocket" and blasted around the farm for about an hour. Pat Holland helped me by installing a new clutch sheave in my Rhino and not it hits 50 mph. There are very few places here that I couldd use any more speed than that. It is a freaking blast and Will loved it.

So by now Julie is home, takes Will and I jump on the small tractor with the bucket and start spreading all of this dirt. She is steady planiting new plants, kids are raising hell in the woods playing Pokeymon.

Now she needs pine straw. Lots of it. I, being the excellent help that I am, told her I would go back into the pine trees and rake up some pinestraw. I told he I would get her a "truck" load. Shae was happy. So this is the "truck" I took :)

She did not think that load was too funny, so she sent me back for more, and more, and more. 7 loads of pine straw  :dunno:

Finally she tells me she is done with me, that I just need to go get 2 plants she left at her garden shed. So she is using my gas cart with the water sprayer to soak her new plants, so I jump in the monster barbie jeep and head off. On the way back I am taking the scenic route drinking a beer and get stuck in the mud ::) So I have to call in the cavalry (Wench with a Winch) She LOVED this laughing1

Berkley worked the winch and Julie held the brakes. It was a fine moment.

Finally, I rent a trencher next week so I can get water to the front of the property where this new landscaping project is happening. About 200' direct, so I dont know what it will take to snake it through the woods.

Last shot, posing in the moster Barbie Jeep :)

It looks like yardwork to me. That's what 14 year old neighbors are for. Between him, his younger brother and my own son I should be able to avoid yardwork for a long time. ;D

The deck van came from Japan in a container :D

Place called Powersports sells them here in Jackson. We have 3 of them on the farm.

Dad's other on is a plain Jane Suzuki and mine is this camo Mitsubishi.

This is the offending flower bed. I have to go now and another pile of pine straw for the other side of the driveway. The dirt-work is aready done.

I will gt pictures of the rest of the junk today around here. It is funny how many motorized vehicles are on this farm....

Finished that project. Fawk that. I should have paid Louis to do all of that :flipgotcha:

The Dogwoods are blooming better than I can ever remember them blooming. I bet we have a few thousand on this place. Woods are white.

Julie was stealing ground cover from some old beds and moving it to the front of the porperty today.

Dad was on his dozer pushing up old hay piles from the winter to try to get some grass to grow.

And my dumb ass was raking straw and putting it on beds :P

You can't tell but these banks on each side of the driveway had been the worst subsoil. Grass did not even grow on it, now we have a bunch of fresh dirt and a layer of pine straw to hold the dirt in and keep the weeds down.

Julie and I own an undivided 1/3 of 1100 acres. My Dad and sister own the other 2/3 and they live here on the farm too.

I grew up here. When we bought it in 1972 Dad bought 1/2 of 365 acres for $200 an acre. Land around here sells for 4-5k an acre for big tracs now. Amazing, but even though it is worth lots it is not and will never be sold so that 'worth' is just a figure.

I love it here, if any of you clowns ever need a place to stay over in these parts, let me know.

Great grandpa bought the place my parents live on in 1919 and the place across the road was great great grandpas from the 1800's sometime. Now its worth about 2.5ish for 100 acres of upland. Sad thing is it'll probably sell someday because we are 1 mile from town and less than a mile from the 4 lane highway. soon enough it will be surrounded by other houses and businesses. My retirement plan I'm guessing. :-\
your place is beautiful.

If it were just my family, I would probably cash out after my dad passed away just to get out of Mississippi. I would love to live on the western slope of Colorado. My sister doesn't do change so it is either sell to her, which I could not stomach or just get a second home one day out there and live a little in both places. I am hoping once my kids get into college Julie can retire and we can do that.
