Ok its been many years (like 18) since I did any fiberglass work.

We got a new top for the wifes rig and it needs a couple small spots fixed (really small).

Now I can't remember what I got last time but do any of the automotive parts places have little kits? And its not going to need anything but a little resin its just edges that need fixed...

West Marine or any other "marine supply" place. The crap epoxy at the auto store is, well, crap.

so you are just looking for some epoxy?

you can buy mini tubes of 2 part epoxy

Epoxy will bond, but you cant put gel coat over it, but you can paint it.

If its anything big use some cloth to help with strength

If it's small ask for a bag of filler such as "microspheres", it'll make it lighter and easier to sand. They sell the stuff at hobby stores too.

Well all I need it for is some filler... Nothing structural...

I know, but the top is more likely built with a poly resin not epoxy. Ideally you want to match the base material as close as possible. The stuff you find at the parts or hardware store is also not as agressive in it's bond. Look for a thinner resin, typically they have a longer pot time. Use a glass filler such as microbeads or microspheres to make a slightly runny peanut butter consistency paste.
