I've got a buddy in need of help. Instead of help, he got me.
Short story long, his 1992 Ford Ranger 3.0, 5 speed runs great until it warms up. Then it goes to ****. Sputters, pops and is way down on power. I don't have an obd1 scanner so we jumped pins. The check engine light just stays on, no blinking. When I reset the codes......it struggles to start. Then it will finally fire, high idle up to 2k rpms. After a few minutes, it idles down and the check engine light comes back on.
Things that have been done recently and need to be done:
Thermostat and sensor replaced. Thermostat was bad and sensor was too.
Rotor cap and button have some corrosion. Will be replaced next as routine maintenance.p
Fuel filter just replaced.
Please post up any thoughts or comments. This is his only ride and his mother in law is dropping him off at work. He also has a newborn baby @ just under a week.
