I need a replacement FJ80 rear axle housing. Mine had an e-locker, I assume the housings are different but I'm not sure if the standard can be converted to an e-locker housing.

Let me know if you can help me. I'll probably order a diamond axle if I can't find something relatively quickly.

Can you get a diamond for that big 3rd?

I just sold a complete rear to Muchado.
According to their website you can (first example build) but it doesn't mention anything about an e-locker so that's an open question. I called them and left a message.

I wrote in your pirate thread but I guess you can ignore that now that you've replied here. Thanks

Well, I ordered my new diamond axle housing today. It's going to be a stock replacement but of course it will be stronger. The stock tube is just under 3" in diameter and the new one is 3.5". The stock tube thickness is about .1875" (3/16) thick and the new tube will be .375" ( 3/8 ) thick. This one should hold up much better.

The biggest downside is the lead time is 4-6 weeks so I'm out of wheeling for a little while. I'll start work this weekend on taking apart the rear and planning for the front. I might drop in a bling cutting brake at some point during the process since I'm going to be bleeding them anyway and the system I have now could use an upgrade. I also have a new hi-pinion third to install and perhaps a driveshaft clearance issue to work around. It's too bad that this is all happening around such nice wheeling weather but I guess I'll just have to enjoy it as nice wrenching weather.

Yes but I haven't checked them since I bent the rear axle housing. My guess is that they are ok but I'll know for sure this weekend. I had a really slight twist in the stock axle (pic below). I posted on pirate about it. IIRC, most of the people said to replace them but some really bright guys that seemed to know metallurgy said to run them. I replaced them because I suspected it was the reason my e-locker wasn't engaging. The locker works great now so I guess the theory was right but it still seems too mild to be the cause. But then again it was the only change I made and now it's perfect. I can't be sure but I do know that with a 9.5" ring gear and cromo shafts I should be in decent shape given that I only have about 220 hp.
