So I have not ran any foam in my mashers for some time now (on slighly narrowed wheels) and bb's for weight.
So I got my new beadlocks that are supper narrow and a new set of moabs. So my question is from what I can tell with no foam and a really narrow wheel it doesn't make the tire tall like I was thinking it would.

So whats your guys take on running foam? My only issue is I really like the idea of running bb's for weight but that doesn't work real well with foam. And from what I can tell to get the tire tall with a narrow wheel is to run a narrow strip of foam....

I would run foam in the maobs if they are 40 series or 2.2's. It is tough to run BB's with foam but you can always use lead wieghts on the axles to keep the rotating mass down. I use a star pattern in both sizes for the foam

Hey Mike.
Because of the rubber compound of the Proline Moabs and Mashers being soo soft I run foams.
There are a couple of patterns members use when cutting foam.
Devlin uses the star pattern which works great.
Another option is to cut about 1/4 inch deep down the center of my foams and keeping about 1/4 inch of each side of the foams for stiffer sidewall when side hilling.
This is off my 2.2 foams.

Hey Crash, if you are hooked on running pellets or BB's, you can "belt" the tire for added support. I've heard of people lining the inside of the tire with duct tape, which don't sound like a great plan to me. I know people have used a smaller tire inside of the Moab, like a stock Rustler or Stampede tire (not sure which), and then it holds up fine with no foam.

Another thought, which is 100% untested to my knowledge, would be to line the inside of the tire with Plasti-Dip, or liquid electrical tape. I've heard of people using this stuff in conjunction with gauze to strengthen a tire what has been narrowed. Not sure if it would work, but it's an idea.

On my rigs, I run stick on weights, so I can do whatever i want with the foam.

Before you put the tires on put some stick on weights on the inside of the rims, them add something for foam and your moab. Nice clean look havin the wieghts inside the tire wheel and no bb's rollin around.:clappy:

I think I am going to try the belting, I like the BB,s as it treduces your rotating mass some what and alowws you to get the wheel speed right now since the BB's dont actually rotate with the wheel, I never could run them with my foams.Itsd worth a shot

I think foams or no foams depends on the weight of your truck.

I have run masher 2000's on my tlt for almost 2 years with no foams with no problems. But my truck weighs less then 5 pounds. I have added some moabs to the mix on slightly narrowed RPM revolver rims, and I used a 1/3 width stock foam with a star patern cut into it. But am thinking I should have gone no foam in them as well.

I have heard of the "beLtng" tire mod to redue the ballooning effect of high RPM racers/bashers. I wonder how it would work on a too soft tire like the I'mex all-t...????

I cut the foam into a star pattern then cut off about 3/8" of the tips so the bb's have room to move. I just added tape weight, between the beads, on a new st of wheels along with the cut star/bb method and I think it helps for climbing but not as good for decending. Just a thought.
