what'd be he best year/vehicle to get a donor axle. narrow = better.... stock gearing around 3.70's - 4.11 good, disc brakes a plus but not needed. its not going on a wheeler but on the '52 and will be hooked up to 350-400 HP

Here's the thing... the most desirable axles 73-end truck with 31 spline axles and the possiblity of low gears. They are full width. The narrowest were mostly 28 spliners with hyway gears.

It's almost easier to dialup currie anymore than trying to find a non fullwidth 9...

I think it would be off a lincoln versaille or whatever they are. 9 inch with factory rear disc's and drum in rotor parking brake. I'll measure the wms tomorrow but i think it was under 58 inches.

This is a complete drum to drum 9 inch rear end out of a 1968 Ford Falcon. It is 52 inches from backing plate to backing plate. It is a non possi with 3.0 gears.I have pulled the axles and 3rd member for inspection. Everything looks to be in good shape.Gear oil was clean. This will bolt into all 64,65,66,67,68 Mustang, Falcon and Comets. $250.00 Cell 206-669-3587 John

66-77 early bronco rears have 3.07 ish gears and measure ~60" wms-wms. drum brakes though....

only problem with them was that they were all 28 spline, and measured 8.75 ring gear diameter.

a lot of them came with 3.50s or 3.55s.

Its still a 9 inch, but not one to get much out of.

the versaille rear was 28 spline as well. and 5 on 5 pattern. almost all car rears were 28 spline.

pay careful attention to the limited slip diff where the ring gear bolts hold the ring gear on. you may notice that they tend to crack there under abuse.

you can get a spool for 110 bucks off of ebay, for 31 spline or 28 spline axles. you can get gears for 130 or so, as well.
