ford wheel bearing

so i have a 00 f250 superduty 4x4 and my left front wheel bearing is howling pretty good.. ive called around and everywhere i called will only sell me the whole hub assembly with a new bearing which is almost 400 bucks... i know i can get just a bearing somewhere threw work but the thing is i can not work on my truck at my house and i can not leave it at the shop. ( so i can pull it apart and match up a bearing) anyone have this problem and know where to get just a bearing or a part number or anything?

It's a unit bearing and you cannot just change the bearing inside. Their expensive but look around for the best deal.

binder is right you need to buy the whole assembly it is stamped on it do not disassemble. probably has a big spring in it for preload

I can do those for like $298 and in-stock in Auburn.... if you can't find anywhere cheaper.

Dynatrac sells a kit to convert it to roller bearings and normal hubs, but its spendy. :redneck:

What is the average milage for these wheel bearings before they go out?

Varies.....I have one with over 180,000 on it.

Rockauto.com has the best price I have seen on unitbearing assemblies. Its not that much better than Avanteone's though.
