I have a th400 in my buggy with a stock valve body and at a high rpm it will not hold first. I did some research and found a way to make it hold first. Had to take the valve body out and grind 2 flats in the 1-2 shift valve and plug a small hole. I guess it was a bypass hole. To my understanding now it works the se way as the transgo 400-1-2 kit does. Still shifts on its own but now it will hold first gear. It works just as good to me a manual valve body would but I can still put it in drive and cruise around.
