I found a long bowl looking plastic piece floating in the fuel tank what is it or do I need it.I was changing out fuel pump when I found it. In my 1991 wrangler.

That's common. Jeep had a recall, because those 'bowls' would become loose from the tank (they're plastic welded to the bottom). It's a baffle, that surrounds the fuel pump, to keep fuel available for the pickup when the tank doesn't have much fuel left.

It's also common for them to 'warp'. I've ran without them. Or you can swap out the tank.

You might try calling your local dealer, and see if your VIN still has an open recall.

So it will be ok to run with out it.I would just have to keep more gas in it.

I would think so. But remember, when you're wheeling (up, down, sidehill, etc) you drastically change the angle of the tank, which will greatly effect the pumps ability to suck fuel. That baffle is designed to catch fuel, and keep the pump primed. I wouldn't go wheeling with less than a full tank.

Thanks.I'm going to put it together with out it and I'm going to look for a new tank its a easy swap.At least I can get to work for now.

Remember to call the local Jeep dealer with the VIN, to see if they'll just give you a new tank. At one time, I had 4 or 5 of these (old, recalled) tanks floating around, that were getting dumpstered. Got them from a guy at my work who did the recalls. Now, I got nothing.
