Hello,

I'm new here, i want to buy my own crawler, but there's one thing that i dont dig... ???

How do you guys design your tubular style frames ? is that possible to d on paper only ? i have solidworks, but im not very good at this software...

on the fab part, i can do it, i built many things, but nothing bent... who can explain me more on the art of bending tubes ??

Thx for your answers

btw, where i can find a thread where we see all the design progress, chassis, steering suspension drivetrains... ?

It's a bunch of research. Start small build a bumper or some rock sliders and move up to an exo. Once you get confident in your design. Build a buggy.

Call up 747 Motorsports, LLC. They know there stuff....not really.

Start small in terms of bends and be prepared to burn through tons of scrap tubing.

Well open my mouth and inset a foot. I clicked on the link and saw google. I can't tell ya how many times people would send you a link to google when you ask a question Amin pirate. Sorry bud.

That pirate link was pretty dang helpful.

side note.
Where I work we make custom boat windows and use an aluminum frame. The guys that bend have a huge assortment of bent pieces with every degree bend marked on them. So when I put a pattern of a window out they go to the rack and match up the right bend to the pattern and get there marks like how the guy in the link was using the 90 except there piece doesnt have to get moved around for the 2nd mark. Ive never really asked what all they used it for b/c i just assumed it told them the bend angle but now i've learned that its actually helping them mark there bends. What is just plain dumb though is there benders have arbitrary bend numbers instead of actual degree's. A 90 degree bend for example is a 30 on the bender read out. It has never made any damn since to me other than if someone finds a pattern in the dump theyll have to do there own work to get the angle :dunno: . All I know is it only took 1 time of me writing 90 in a square corner and getting the informative ass chewing about the arbitrary numbers. :****:
