This is what I do when I have an off weekend. I heard about an old freeride park in cullman and had to check it out. This is the only freeride park in Alabama and it is badass. It was number 6 on the top ten places to ride before you die in single tracks magazine. John the guy that manages the place put a ton of work into the course and it shows. Sad thing is that the state wants to come in and make this area a parking lot......... Atleast I got to ride before they bulldoze it. John also makes vertical cave diving systems. Where the ascend into 100' or more vertical caves. I plan on making a trip to video that sometime soon! :dblthumb:

I knew about the biking area.....I hadn't heard they were turning it into a parking lot

That's the 6 footer. The trails haven't been groomed in a while and the banked turn before that is rough. I wasn't able to get enough speed to hit that drop or else I would have. :****:

What are they wanting to build a parking lot for??? From what I have seen the one they have is adequate for the amount of people that go there :dunno:
 
Sweet editing Matt, especially like the near fatal wipeout at the end. molaugh. Think you need to build one of them at the BK compound. :dblthumb:
 
Love the vid editing! Looked like an awesome time. I bet I couldn't peddle 50 yds before falling over and going into cardiac arrest lol.

Thanks yall it is a rush and a good way to stay in shape. Took Veterans day off yesterday to go to Blankets Creek in Georgia with a Veteran Friend of mine. and hit up the Freeride section there. It was pretty crazy. Video on the way.
 
Mountain biking is a lot of fun, just started back into it myself after 10 years

I ride single track too. Its just usually to boring to video. If I had the option I would ride a freeride course all day over some trails. Unless they are super fast flowy downhill trails. The Van Michael trail at Blankets Creek is awesome in either direction.

Cool....im kinda the same way, but I do like some nice relaxing scenic stuff every now and then. If you're every up this way video at Windrock / Coal Creek OHV, there is a place called Haw Ridge Park within 20 min that has some great trails. Some are goat trails(get off and push up to enjoy a nice downhill), most are peak and valley trails with some difficult climbs but you get rewarded with some good down hill stuff.

I agree on the video/boring part....kinda like video'ing "crawling" vs. "bouncing". ;)

The course I usually take at Haw Ridge is called the Perimeter Loop. You basically get to ride right by the water line / lake. Very nice in the spring / summer months!

I've got some video of some good downhills there i'll try to post up later. Twister, Roller Coaster, Soccer and Low Gap are some good ones. There's a short very steep downhill section called "911" that you can go from 0 to 35mph in like 2 seconds thats pretty sweet.......if you don't crash out. :)

If I am up at Windrock again Im gunna bring my pressure suit and bomb some of the ridiculous hills they have for sure. :dblthumb:
