My friend runs 38" boggers and they go amazingly well. The nature of his work is slow in the winter so he's always kind of broke this time of year. On his last trip he got a cut in the sidewall. It's "C" shaped, and he said he could cover it with a half dollar coin. He told me it just about holds air but that you can open it with your fingers (or flex the sidewall on a rock) to let the air out. He's looking for a super cheap fix so that he can wheel at Harlan in April.
* I suggested a bunch of tire plugs but he thinks the shape of the cut won't work with tire plugs.
* He suggested drilling a 5/8" hole and plugging it with a 3/4" bolt/washers/nut. I added that his idea might work if he put roofing tar on the inside of each washer. I've seen online videos that demonstrate how roofing tar holds amazingly well to tires so I'm guessing it might seal/hold.
Do you guys have any super cheap ideas on fixing a tire with a cut like that? (btw, it's a trail only 1985 toyota)
