{Headline in Birmingham News} Mayor envisions lakes replacing Legion Field

Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford outlined an ambitious set of plans during his first town hall meeting Thursday, including replacing Legion Field with lakes.

He also proposed walking trails and a tennis facility for the stadium's site, and replacing Loveman Village with condos.......

A question submitted in advance inquired as to Langford's goals as mayor. "I want to fix it all," Langford said.

Please tell me (non local) that these lakes are at the top of a hill

Short story. I work in Civil Engineering. Some of the landscape Architects did a layout for this chunk of land, got it all rezoned, preliminary layout approved by the city of Kansas City. We go to start designing it...the main "water feature/detention basin" was at the top of the hill. I bet they had months into layout and meetings and nobody ever caught this. :****:

On a related note....I've enjoyed watching B'ham officials squirm and avoid the questions from reporters about why they thought they lost the State Highschool Football Championships to Tuscaloosa and Auburn. They act upset about the millions in revenues lost but act clueless as to why....especially the ninjas.(most are) Langford knows exactly why so to save face he just says "**** it! Lets build a lake!"

I cant wait until that man gets his day in court , He's another fine example of our goverment failing us repeatedly thanks to un-educated voter's looking for a hand out. Anyone see the political cartoon in the paper depicting the US Treasury as a shriveled up pathetic cow with nothing to offer and Obama saying " Good morning sunshine " easing up on her with bucket's labeled AIG, Dodge, Ford, Stimulus, etc... Langford is the exact same asshole, thinks the "Goverment's money" is never ending even when B'ham is facing bankruptcy.

IT OUR DAMN MONEY and here we are intrusting that scum bag to spend it.... real nice.
