Would it be a bad idea to hard mount it without using a shackle. the reason why i want to hard mount it is because on an uphill obsticle, Rock face. when i have to stop i feel my front end unload causing my front driveline to fall out and i want to stop that (Square is in the making for a new driveline). first idea was to do an anti-wrap bar up front, close to the driveline and second would be to use a limiting strap in the center of the diff.

Any thoughts.

Hook your winch up to the front axle and squat your front end down. It wont unload anymore. I dont think an anti-wrap is going to keep your front end from unloading.

If you were SUA this wouldn't happen. :flipoff:

so if im setting on the rockface, my winch cable from my front bumper thats connect to something on my front diff, my front end wont unload

Not if you winch the line in and squat your front suspension. Surprised you haven't heard of this.

in order for the winch trick to work you need to have a pretty straigh pull down. your axle needs to be under the winch or put a pulley or such above the axle.

i have but thought it might not work, my front shackles set at a steep angle and when set on a hill they unload shifting everything foward while my weight is going back, make any sense

It will still put down force on it Jim. Might not work the best but it will not unload as easy as it is with nothing there.

if the winch is mounted ahead of the axle it will want to pull the axle forward not up as the front starts to unload the axle will swing in a arc on the cable (forward) and will cause all kinds of problems. If your going to do this then run the cable under the axle and attach it to the frame or crossmember about mid vehicle. The cable will act as a truss pulling the axle straight up and not forward as you tighten the pull.

In his case all the winch will do is multiply the problem, the cable will be pulling the axle foreward, and the cable will be running at the same angle as his leaf's thus helping the front end unload more, it's the nature of the beast.

Also about the front anti wrap bar, it's kinda like the toyota guy with 42's and leaf"s and swear's by his toy diff's, then there's the guy with link suspension and 37's that ****'s shaft's constantly. Leaf spring's make for a good place for all of that torque to be soaked up, when you start mounting it more rigid (link's or antiwrap) all that torque has nowhere to be soaked up and places more stress on you're shafts. If you do go that route though, using a shackle would be required, with a toyota reverse shackle the axle travel's foreward like you are complaining about. That shackle will make it so thing's still move somewhat freely.

Do it right and make a new driveline. Also, Dont stop on the rock face.:flipoff:
